Village of Chipman, New Brunswick -
2023 National Finalist
The Village of Chipman, located on the banks of the Salmon River, and at the head of Grand Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the Maritime Provinces.
Chipman maintains a peaceful, rural setting while offering year-round recreation, community events, and easy access to all needed services.
Historically, Chipman’s industrial base was grounded in forestry, coal and brick. The tradition continues with the ultra-modern facilities of J.D. Irving Woodlands Ltd. and Grand Lake Timber Ltd, which process much of the abundant local timber, which is still the main focus of the area’s economy.
Throughout our history and looking towards the future, our village is truly special due to its fine people and outstanding community spirit.
Chipman is centrally located, a hub to the major cities of Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John and Mirimachi. Recently we were amalgamated with the Parish of Chipman, the Village of Minto, the Parish of Northfield and parts of Canning and Sheffield parishes. However, Chipman will always be the main community Chipman Communities in Bloom associated with.
Our community Vision Statement, “Chipman is a diverse, vibrant community committed to growth and development where all ages may learn, work, play and live in an engaging environment.”, sets the tone for our future growth initiatives as outlined in the attached strategic plan.
