Town of Stonewall, Manitoba - 2023 National Finalist
The Town of Stonewall is located along Provincial Trunk Highway 67 with a population of 5,046 and growing! Conveniently located just 25 kilometers north of Winnipeg, Stonewall offers its residents a friendly, quiet, rural alternative to life in the big city. Stonewall was founded in 1878, and was officially incorporated in 1908. The Town has a rich history surrounding the old limestone quarries which is exemplified by the many stone buildings along Main Street which provide excellent examples of turn of the century masonry construction.
Stonewall’s Quarry Park, an 80 acre multi-use park located at the north end of Main Street, provides areas of untouched nature, swimming, splash pad, picnic facilities, camping, walking trails, disc golf course, baseball facilities, tobogganing, outdoor skating, and cross country ski trails for visitors and residents alike. In addition, the three limestone kilns found in the heart of Quarry Park are reminders of the once thriving limestone quarry industry that founded the Town of Stonewall.
Filled with rich history, bustling commerce, and vibrant community, the Town of Stonewall is a great place to call home!
