Town of Provost, Alberta - 2023 National Finalist

Provost, a community of approximately 1900 residents, serves a large rural area that reaches into Saskatchewan and sits 17 km from the provincial border. Provost has two economic drivers, the energy sector with extensive oil & gas reserves and the agricultural sector with both crop and livestock being equally important.
Provost provides excellent care to our residents of all ages: a fully functioning hospital, two K-12 schools (public and separate), a new medical centre providing space for our six doctors, a dentist and various community supports, as well as a senior’s living complex.
To keep the community healthy and active, Provost is proud of our modern, recreational complex that includes an indoor walking track, arena, exercise gym, and outdoor swimming pool. For outdoor enjoyment Provost has an extensive paved walking trail which is maintained year-round, four ball diamonds with electronic score boards, bunnock court, tennis court, skate park, outdoor arena, a planned splash park to open in the spring of 2024, 7 playgrounds for the children and 2 campgrounds.
Three unique features that draw people to visit our community are the Provost and District Museum, Rosenheim Church, a 15-minute drive south of town (a Neo-Gothic Church built in 1922 and maintained by the Rosenheim Historical Society and made available for weddings, concerts, and several annual events). A little further down the road is the Bodo Archaeological Site for spring and summer tours adventure. These three sites draw travelers from near and far to visit our progressive community.
