Peggy started in the industry in the spring of 2004 to help at her sister’s garden centre, Pat’s Plants & Gardens for two weeks. This was the start of a passion in horticultural she didn’t realize was missing.

 

With a background in marketing, Peggy took on the responsibility of the social media and marketing initiatives for the garden centre. Finding that there was information available provincially and nationally, but not clearly advertised to all garden centres in her province, she wanted to become involved with the provincial association to help get this information out. 

 

In 2011 Peggy was elected to participate on the board of LNLHA as the Grower representative. In May of 2013 she took over the position of Garden Centres Canada representative. She held this title until Oct. 2018 when she went on to become President of that provincial association. 

 

Peggy was the CNLA’s NL Provincial representative (2017) and just recently resigned that title (2025). Over the course of these years she held a position on multiple committees within the CNLA.

 

Always one to volunteer her time, Peggy also holds the position of Secretary with the ITF-TAO Canada board. A Taekwon-Do martial arts association. She currently has the rank of 4th degree black belt. Training with Cabot Taekwon-Do in NL for 25 years.

 

Joining the CiB board several years ago was an opportunity to learn how communities weren’t just a place you live, these communities who partnered with CiB became a thriving, pride filled, welcoming community where people wanted to raise a family. Peggy feels becoming Chair of this National Foundation is an honour and a privilege, and she doesn’t take it lightly.  She welcomes the opportunity to work with a very engaged board to see Communities in Bloom thrive in the coming years.
