Darlene Kalawsky - CiB Board Director

Darlene Kalawsky is an automotive management specialist with three decades of successful experience in Automotive Dealership Operations. Currently Vice President/owner  of Kalawsky Auto Group,  a collective of Five auto dealerships in the Kootenay Region of southern British Columbia, she is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking in the workplace.

During her automotive career, she has been community coordinator for Kalawsky Auto Group.

Our dealerships support a variety of community outreach programs. “Giving back has always been in our DNA”.

For Darlene volunteering is a way of life. It was how she grew up. It defines her.

She works to inspire others to give back to their communities in any way they can, not because they have to but because they want to.

Darlene has served, as a board member & Chair for many organizations, Selkirk College, BC SPCA ,  BC Communities in Bloom,  Castlegar Community Foundation, & Rotary.

For her volunteer contributions,  she has been recognized by the BC Lieutenant Governor with a BC Community Achievement Award, an Honorary Business Administration Degree from Selkirk College, a the BC Library Trustees’ Advocacy Award and as Community Champion from BC Communities in Bloom.

Currently, Darlene is President of the Canadian Peony Society, Chair of Castlegar & District Community Foundation, Rotary Director and serves on the National CiB Board.

Being a volunteer runs in her family. As a youngster she witnessed her favorite aunt, always helping someone, while raising her family and making a difference in her community.  So it is natural that she carries on this family tradition.

Darlene values family time, being inspired by her granddaughters, travelling  and always enjoys a good Netflix binge.
