It is also the junction of Highways 3A, 3 & 22. Highway 22 runs the length of the City, known as Columbia Avenue.

It is home to Selkirk College , with 9 satellite campuses In the region and The West Kootenay Regional Airport, with Air Canada Connector service from Calgary or Vancouver.

Castlegar is known as the Sculpture Capital of Canada.
Prominently, located in Downtown Castlegar, this program began as a Downtown Revitalization project by a Committee established by Communities in Bloom, and led by Sculptor/Collaborator Pat Field. This program has essentially branded Castlegar as a Destination.
