CN has launched several initiatives with various organizations to preserve the natural environment in the communities in which it operates in Canada and the U.S. In 2012, CN launched its EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up to promote the greening of municipal properties across Canada. CN, with its partners Tree Canada and Communities in Bloom, helps Canadian municipalities establish tree planting initiatives in a sustainable, environmentally-responsible manner. Since CN initiated the program, 85 communities have been selected to receive grants of up to $25,000 each. In addition, the program is being formally extended to the U.S.
