Brooks – 2016 National Finalist
Brooks is a small city of 13,500 located in south eastern Alberta. The region is classed as semi-arid; without irrigation there would be little agriculture. The CPR introduced irrigation to be able to sell the land. The Brooks Aquaduct (National/Provincal Historic Site) was completed in 1915. The city is supported by oil & gas production & related service industry; agriculture & related production services. JBS provides a market for the beef industry in Alberta. We are proud to have 12 individual or stands of trees named in the Heritage Trees of Alberta book when trees are not native to our area.
